Units across campus are making UAccess systems work for them in all sorts of creative ways. The UAccess Speaker Series is your opportunity to hear what's working in your colleagues' departments.

Attend a currently scheduled presentation or request that a presenter come to your department meeting. Either way, you get to hear how your colleagues have used UAccess to streamline their business or solve challenges. Who knows what you might be able to put to work in your department?

Automate your Data Cleaning Process with Power Query in Excel Revisited

You spoke and we heard you! Based on feedback from our session in the 2019 UAccess Symposium, we are happy to announce two hands-on Power Query workshops.
If you regularly download Analytics data into Excel and spend considerable time cleaning it up, or if you are simply curious to know a quick and easy way to reshape data, these workshops are for you. Power Query in Excel is a great way to automate your data cleaning process.

Please join us in this introductory workshop to Power Query. We will revisit how to transform raw data files downloaded from UAccess Analytics (or other systems) into clean data that is ready to be analyzed and presented. In addition to repeating the process we demonstrated at the Symposium, we will also throw in some new useful tricks.

In the first hour of the workshop, you will build 2 queries. The last 30 minutes will be lab time for you to ask questions and get one on one assistance with your own data.

Employees familiar with UAccess Analytics, Excel and/or Power Query

Requirements to attendees
**Workstations will not be provided. Please bring your own laptop with Office 2016 or newer version.**

Creating reports in Adaptive Planning is great, but you could give those reports a more professional look using OfficeConnect. Come learn a few tricks from Rosa Fung as she demonstrates how to recreate Adaptive Planning Reports in OfficeConnect. The finished report will include budget vs. actual, relative date, and header.

There will be roughly 30 minutes of demonstration, then you will be given time (approx. 1 hour) and assistance to apply Rosa’s techniques to your own reports.

Who is this for?
Employees who have created reports in Adaptive Planning and wish to recreate those reports in OfficeConnect.

Requirements for attendees: 
• You must have a basic understanding of these four terms in Adaptive: Levels, Accounts, Time, Versions.
• It is highly recommended that you understand your Adaptive instance.
• It is highly recommended that you understand of Pivot tables.
• Workstations ARE NOT provided. You must bring your own laptop with access to your instance of Adaptive Planning.
• Bring the report you wish to work on during the lab time.
• Please download and install OfficeConnect on your laptop prior to the class..

Rosa has provided her presentation which includes notes for the step-by-step processes she uses.
Printouts will not be provided in class, but you are welcome to print and bring your own copy.

Speaker Series Topic Suggestion

As a speaker, you have choices about how much time you want to commit. You can pick from the options below.

  • Present at the annual UAccess Symposium. Presentations and materials will be archived on the UAccess Community site.
  • Present up to three sessions over a few months as part of the UAccess Speakers series. Presentations and materials will be archived on the UAccess Community site.
  • In addition to one or both of the first two, you can decide whether to make yourself available as a presenter on a by-request basis. You manage your schedule and only do what you are able to.

What we do to help you: 

  • Work with you to develop a presentation and presentation materials. 
  • Schedule rooms for the official UAccess Speakers series sessions and Symposium. 
  • Promote the UAccess Speakers sessions and UAccess Symposium. 
  • Archive materials on the UAccess Community website.
